Students Learn High-Tech Ropes at Web Academies State Grant Pays for New Program

St. Augustine and First Coast Technical high school students are getting the chance to take a high-tech step for their future.

This spring, the schools were two of 30 statewide awarded $340,000 grants from the state education department to take part in the Oracle Internet Academy, where students learn advanced computer skills that could lead to a big-paycheck job.

BRUNSWICK - Camden County businessman Fairley Cisco surrendered to FBI agents Friday to face federal charges accusing him and four others of a multimillion-dollar fuel fraud scheme and a bribery conspiracy.

Cisco, 67, of St. Marys, is charged along with his nephew, a former son-in-law and two others with cheating customers out of millions of dollars by deliberately tampering with fuel pump measuring devices at his three gas stations along Interstate 95 in Camden County from 1995 through March 2008.

BRUNSWICK - Camden County businessman Fairley Cisco wants to stand trial alone and somewhere other than Southeast Georgia on federal charges accusing him and four others of a multimillion-dollar fuel fraud and conspiring to bribe state officials.

Cisco, 67, is also asking a federal judge to ban the government from using evidence discovered when Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents and other state authorities searched his St. Marys home on March 4, 2008. He also wants the government barred from using any statements he made during the search.

Cisco Systems, Inc. and Trend Micro Inc. announced a joint collaboration to deliver comprehensive virus and worm outbreak prevention solutions to help protect networked businesses. The new agreement is an extension of the companies relationship previously established in the Cisco Network Admission Control (NAC) program, and will integrate Cisco network infrastructure and security solutions with Trend Micros antivirus technologies, vulnerability assessment, and real-time outbreak prevention capabilities.

CM: The Cisco Academy has been in place for the past 11 years. It was launched in 1997. It is a unique public/ private partnership--with education, state, local and national governments and community organizations--that really focuses on providing students with the foundational and advanced skills and knowledge that are needed to begin an advanced career in networking and IT.
