AMA Fairview and Mapua Institute of Technology were declared Advanced Category and Basic Category National Champions respectively, in the recent Networking Academy Skills Competition held at Holy Angel University, Pampanga. Team AMA Fairview received P30,000 from the Cisco Networking Academy Core Council, wireless routers from Linksys for each team member, and Cisco
books from Pearson Vue. The Mapua team won P15,000 and Linksys wireless routers for the members.Computer Science and Information Technology graduating students Marvin Dela Cruz, Ralph Crysler Uy, John McGregory Roque, and Andry Dyan C. Bello made up the AMA Fairview team. Team AMA Fairview beat Mapua Institute of Technology, Holy Angel University, Mindanao Polytechnic State College, Systems Plus College, Tarlac State University , UNO-R Cebu, AMA Davao, AMA Manila, and AMA Biñan. This is the second time AMA Fairview joined the competition.The Mapua team was composed of Melissa Mae Pasquin, John Millie Dingle, Jonathan Eric Defante, and Edmund Ray Milanes, all Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering (EECE) students. Mr. Milanes also garnered the Runner-up position in the Basic Category Written Exam while Ms. Pasquin was 2nd Runner-up. John Mark Cornilla, member of the Mapua-Advanced Category team was highest in the advanced written exam.The annual Cisco Skills Competition is organized by the Cisco Networking Academy Core Council of the Philippines headed by Engr. Amante Garcia, Core Council President. Said Engr. Garcia, “The competition is a good opportunity for our Networking Academy students to interact and meet their fellow networking enthusiasts. We’ve been generating a lot of interest in the program and we hope events like these help cultivate among the students a better appreciation of the importance of IP networking skills.”The Cisco Networking Academy is an internationally-recognized IT educational initiative that aims to develop graduates with networking and Internet skills.
